Retailers such as River Island and Matchesfashion are working with tech platform Sparkbox, which uses AI machine learning and trading data (on stock, sales and product) to forward forecast demand at a product level, and help with issues around overproduction and stock markdown.

“Our platform allows retailers to forecast multiple scenarios on demand,” says Sparkbox co-founder Lindsay Fisher. “We’re producing millions of product-level forecasts for our clients per day – and cycling through those forecasts to make pricing and inventory recommendations based on business goals. This volume of forecasting would be impossible to complete manually.
